What surprised you the most about Czech Republic?
There were a lot of things that surprised me about the Czech Republic, but something that really stud out to me was the Easter tradition! The fact that men came to our house at 8 am was really a surprise for me, I wasn’t fully woken up and I was still on my pajama that day it was so embarrassing

What did you learn in czech(language) and how hard was it for you to learn it?
Czech is a really hard language if you don’t speak any Slavic language, like Russian, a language that I don’t speak. But I learned how to present myself in Czech as well as some random words that my host family would teach me !

Would you like to come back someday?
I would love to come back Czech people are so nice, at least the people that I got the chance to meet and I would love to meet them again someday in the future!

What do we have here in Czechia, that you don’t have in Belgium, but you would like to have in there?
Oh my god a lot of things, but mostly the stores you guys have in Prague, like the second hand stores are incredible I would love to have the same stores in Belgium which we have but they are not the same unfortunately

What places/sights did you visit?
I visited a lot of places in the Czech Republic that I don’t remember the names, my host family really made me visit a lot of historical sites that I absolutely loved and I would love to go again !

What new things did you learn from the exchange?
I learned how to be more independent to do things by myself such as my lessons in Belgium things that I had to do alone in Czechia. I also learned a lot of new cultural things that are not near my culture, which was really interesting. In my exchange I also learned a lot about myself, such as that I liked baking I didn’t know I could bake, or that I love dancing and singing, I had more time to do things that I liked !

How did you enjoy the Easter and how do you celebrate it in Belgium?
It was interesting… 😭 Easter in the Czech Republic is a must do at this point, it’s so weird but…. Fun…. at the same way hahah. I don’t celebrate Easter in Belgium and if we do it’s just a chocolate egg hunt!

Did you taste our food(svíčková,guláš,…) drink (kofola,…) or sweets and how did you like it?
I tasted a lot of Czech fun and I loved it, I’m someone who loves food so I eat everything. My favorite food was svíčková, my host grandma used to do such a good svíčková, I miss it. I also tried the famous kofola, it was not bad but I would only drink it occasionally!

Will you take something at home like a reminder? For example some souvenir?
Yes I bought a lot of souvenirs for my family and my friends, also my host family bought me a lot of gifts that I will treasure at home forever !

How did you enjoy it there in Czechia?
It was an amazing experience that I 100% would recommend to everyone. The food, the people, the experience itself was very nice and honestly healing

Did you enjoy time at school? What was the best at school?
I honestly loved the school I was in, the school itself was incredible: we had lockers, we could be in ours classrooms even without a teacher, the toilets were really clean (😭). And as for the teachers, they were really nice some of them even tried to translate every thing they taught! WE ALSO HAD SPANISH, I really missed Spanish lesson, we don’t have Spanish in my school in Brussels so I kind of missed Spanish lesson

Do you like the culture here?
Czech culture is really interesting and full of history. I did like the culture, I would love to go back and learn more about the Czech culture, i unfortunately didn’t stay for a long time so I didn’t get the chance to experience tha much of the Czech culture !

Message for the school:
Im really grateful that I got the chance to go to Gymnázium Zikmunda Wintra in Rakovnik. I would like to thank everyone for being there for and for helping me. I made amazing friends and i can proudly say that I’m going back to Brussels with wonderful friendships and beautiful memories that I will forever treasure in my heart. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and I hope that someday I can come back and visit the school and all of my friends of course!!
